Not only that but the leader of the neo-con radio hosts Rush Limbaugh (who maybe is morphing into just a plain old conservative) even endorses it. Find out more in the "Elections" forum.

Also lots of media outlets have picked it up. This proposal makes the other GOP offerings look like child's play.

The Patent Office is not dependent on the Department of Commerce for its existence.

It is dependent on Article I, Section 8 of the Constitution.

"To promote the Progress of Science and useful Arts, by securing for limited Times to Authors and Inventors the exclusive Right to their respective Writings and Discoveries;"

It states the elimination of the department and everything contained with no replacement.

He proposes eliminating the patent office, good luck with businesses not crapping themselves with that one.

Oh nice, and good bye to student loans and grants. Guess if you are poor but smart, too bad. Guess he is making good on his hatred of vaccines and medicine, as many research labs going after novel crap got their start with government funding (like the first antibiotics, vaccines, internet, computers). Who needs innovation though.

Nice, opt out for SS and medicare for 25 year olds. He does realize that the fund is not a giant bank account where they hold the money of retirees. If people stop paying in then all of those people who paid in for the last 40 years pretty much get a middle finger if they want that money back.

As if people needed more reasons to champion that Paul is a raving lunatic.
It would appear it is you who does not understand the economics behind Paul's solutions. You also seemed to miss completely where some of the functions of the departments to be eliminated would be picked up by already existing federal agencies.

If you really care, look again, without the political blinders on. I suspect Dr. Paul's understanding of these subjects are significantly deeper than your own.
