"I hear your complaints," Bloomberg said. "Some of them are totally unfounded. It was not the banks that created the mortgage crisis. It was, plain and simple, Congress who forced everybody to go and give mortgages to people who were on the cusp. Now, I'm not saying I'm sure that was terrible policy, because a lot of those people who got homes still have them and they wouldn't have gotten them without that.

Bloomberg: 'Plain and simple,' Congress caused the mortgage crisis, not the banks | Capital New York

That's gotta smart!

As much as I despise Bloomberg even he isn't willing to lose his credibility in finance by not stating the obvious truth. Barney Franke, his boy toy Franklin Raines, Chris Dodd, and co. had their minions breathing down the necks of the banks making certain they made loans to people who could not afford it just because it would look good in the name of racial demographics.

OWS can't care less what Bloomberg has to say they want socialism, and apparently they expect to get it by destroying Wall Street.

So banks are not to blame for giving mortgages to people who couldn't pay for them? Who gave those people the mortgages?

That I don't know. My guess is there's not enough space for hundreds of people to camp there.
