That's what I'm trying to sort out--how is it abandoning your baby to save it's life, and give up your own doing it? I don't know if the OP is upset that it was an unmarried mother? If being unmarried and having a baby deserves it's own thread on CD, then there isn't much to talk about in the world...

I can only assume the OP has reading comprehension problems and did not understand that the mother did not do the chemo because it would harm the baby. It is hard to believe that anyone would be that cold hearted.
What a nice mother ohh and look, no father either
Sorry, but this was not a smart move by the mother.
From the article:
"Stacie's brother Ray Phillips has taken Dottie Mae into his home with his four children after the baby's father left his sister".
but of course you CHOSE to criticize the mother... Typical.
What this woman did was the ultimate gesture of love. She gave her child LIFE while she could have easily taken it away if she had chosen to go through with treatment. I feel bad for you because you will never be able to understand such concept.
Some people are crazy with no reasoning what so ever. A Woman who gives her own life up, for the life of her unborn baby, is not selfish at all. She gave up her own life of her own will, so that her unborn baby would have a life. Nothing selfish about this at all.
She made the sacrifice of her own life, for that of her baby, and so that her baby could have a decent life. She had cancer, the treatment would most likely have killed or innjured the baby somehow.
Her sister is raising the child, what is selfish about this.
I find it so distasteful that someone could think of this Mother as selfish, who gave of her own life, so that her baby could live, what is selfish about this. Rather courageous if you ask me.
