I thought Willie balanced the budget without cutting medicare or ss?
Actually, that was the GOP controlled Congress that balanced the budget during the late 1990s, and MediCare/MedicAid spending continued to increase by 6.5%, despite Clinton's vetoes.
The last three years under Clinton ran surpluses (at least nominally). It happened for two reasons: 1) economic growth meant that increased tax revenue was coming in. 2) a D prez and R house meant political gridlock, which meant that spending increased at a low rate.
That would send our and the world's economy over the edge into a complete free fall to 60+% unemployment, 50% personal bankruptcies and massive bank failures along with the loss of all 401k accounts. They would not be Happy Days.
Now I would not mind if this happened only to the idiots voring for him but the economic disaster would take the rest of us with him.
