Denmark. Lol.

it doesn't work in europe either! you cannot offer something for free and expect that the system won't be abused.

they always end up rationing and the quality goes down! their saving grace is that they have some incredibly committed doctors and nurses, but even this is not stopping the costs from skyrocketing and the quality and access from plummeting.

the worst thing about universal healthcare is that it gives the nanny staters the mandate to come and tell you how to live your life. it becomes an excuse to further tax cigarettes and alcohol, they're talking about sin taxes on soda and candy. then they argue the pubs are open too long, too early, too late. the restaurants give too much food, salt, fat, transfats, rare meat! fast food restaurants should be banned, along with video games, tv, .... soon, mandatory exercise class as per the instruction manual they're working from: 1984

Herman Cain 2012.
herman cain just adds a national sales tax to the equation. when asked specifically, cain won't give an answer to what he'll cut. so i can only assume that there won't be any cuts and he'll borrow the money to pay for what he doesn't tax. nice that you think those taxes will stay at 9%. they'll be 30% before you can blink

Says the person who probably had their parents pay for college/schooling it is so easy to look down on others when you have everything handed to you right?

So, based on all of this conversation about Denmark, I decided to actually look up their tax statistics. There is the argument we hear from the left that the rich do not pay enough taxes. However, in looking to the "utopia" claim of Denmark, the rich actually do not share the largest burden of taxes there. The middle class do.

Quote:
Around 9% of taxpayers have a marginal tax rate of zero on a change of income on which labour market contribution is not payable. This is partly due to the fact that their income does not exceed their personal allowance, and partly because a change in income does not have any effect on the income tax payable by their spouses.

Approximately 3.2 million taxpayers, or around 70%, pay between 40 and 50% in tax and labour market contributions on any extra money earned. Taxpayers in this group consist mainly of those who pay municipal taxes, bottom-bracket tax and possibly also middle-bracket tax.

17% of all taxpayers pay over 60% actual marginal tax on wage income.
Quote:
The group of top management and high wage earners has the highest average marginal tax rate of wage income including labour market contribution of just under 60%. Wage earners at basic level and the unskilled have an average marginal tax rate of 48%.

The marginal tax rate for transfer income to pensioners, early retirement pensioners and the unemployed is also just under 40%.
Marginal tax for all taxpayers

So what does this tell us? Only 9% pay no taxes. What is it in the US? Nearly 50%? 70% of the population are responsible for most of the tax revenue at a whopping rate of 40%-50% of income. Doesn't appear that the rich are paying the majority of taxes in Denmark. They do in the US though. So is the left's solution that the middle class carry the greatest part of the tax burden?

Sorry, you really blew that one! And why would you write such crap without even knowing my history at all? I see, you used "probably" as you safety net, unfortunately it doesn't work here.

You are in a dream world. The wealthy pay most all the taxes for everyone else, so maybe try and get rich yourself instead of trying to take down people that can do what you wish you could.

Few if any can have a life handed to them.

The problem is we have a large supply of people who have no intention of paying anything.

That was precisely my point. Denmark is in no way a good comparison to the US. If anything, the US has a more progressive tax system. We have about 50% of Americans not paying any tax. Denmark has 9%. I guess this means the argument could be made that the bottom 50% in this country are not paying their fair share.
