Well done, O Mighty China. Your anti-humanitarian laws have backfired. In light of this senseless death derhaps they will be repealed now.

RIP, Yueyue.

Chinese toddler left bloody in hit-and-run dies - Yahoo! News
A toddler who was twice run over by vans and then ignored by passers-by on a busy market street died Friday a week after the accident and after days of bitter soul-searching over declining morality in China.

The Guangzhou Military District General Hospital said that the 2-year-old girl, Wang Yue, died shortly after midnight of brain and organ failure. "Her injuries were too severe and the treatment had no effect," intensive care unit director Su Lei told reporters.

The plight of the child, nicknamed Yueyue, came to symbolize what many Chinese see as a decay in public morals after heady decades of economic growth and rising prosperity.

What kind of people would just leave a bleeding baby on the ground? Why are we dealing with such a corrupt country?

I believe there are similar incidents here, unfortunately. A woman who collapsed in a hospital waiting room and multiple people walked by for hours before someone finally realized she was dead.

I'm not getting the connection. Did China make laws that it is illegal to help wounded toddlers or something?

Somehow, that doesn't seem likely. I suspect most of the outcry is taking place everywhere else on Earth except China.

It's clear enough that if we lived in a society dominated by people like this poster above, 2 year-olds dying in accidents would be callously written off as "it's their own fault".
