Would you discredit them immediately? For example an ultra-conservative poster presents data that's nearly impossible to refute. What goes through your mind?

Two posters I I have in mind are Mircea and Saganista. (I kinda miss Saganista's post)

Am I liberal shill for because I like being intellectually challenged?

I surely miss those videos of Milton Friedman and his series from the 70's. It seems like we've evolved into something that would rather have gotchas than actual debates. However, I must say the forum has gotten exponentially better than it used to be...

Well, it depends on where they get their data. Everyone has their own facts nowadays, but in general I do have respect for intelligent, articulate conservatives, as opposed to the flame throwing morons. If I can argue with you and walk away intellectually stimulated instead of angry, then it was a successful debate, even if no minds were changed. There are a couple of conservative posters here who I enjoy reading because they usually have something worthwhile to say. (like HappyTexan and AeroGuyDC come to mind first)

We're not supposed to talk about individual posters here, though I think the mods usually overlook the positive stuff.

However, as far as "data that's nearly impossible to refute", everyone has their own interpretation of that. I like data that can be backed up; that didn't just come from someone's mind, or data that they "read somewhere".

I post on a couple of forums where someone has been anointed "God", and it's really annoying. In both cases, these people do not seem to have that much, if any, more knowledge of the subjects discussed than anyone else. For all P&OC's faults, I don't see that here and I don't want it.

Oops. Well if I did something wrong I hope the mods will fix it.
