That makes sense--the rest of it doesn't. It's good that they're trying to make sure that victims have a link to support services available in the community as well, but I'm not real clear on why untrained volunteers would interject themselves in that process beyond having the contact information. I volunteer at a center for domestic violence and rape victims--they need to have someone from that community head over there and explain why they don't need to be the middleman for sexual assault victims--this is dumb.
That said--Andrew Breitbart is being just as dumb and sensational with his headline and spin--they aren't discouraging victims from getting help or going to the police. You can't believe any of his pieces--he's a radical right wing nut. I'm a moderate R, and I believe pretty much nothing that comes out of his mouth, because it's so heavily spun to his side that the truth is completely missing.
