The government should only spend enough money to give them each $10, a parachute, a bag-lunch and enough fuel to fly a C-130 to Somalia, Uganda, Myanmar, Afghanistan, Iraq or elsewhere and kick them out the back.

Or trade them. I'd trade one of them for a immigrant, but I don't think the rest of the world wants them either. Send them to fight the "Lord's Army" or the Taliban. Maybe their constant screaming will drive the Taliban insane or something.

Those people are products of the Democrat's Grotesque Society. You're not going to educate them, and the cost to do so would be enormous and your success rate less than 10%. That money could be better spent elsewhere on the working poor who are doing what they are supposed to do and not being counter-productive.

Those people live in an environment where you make the rules up as you go along. There's no structure whatsoever. They cannot function in any environment where there are rules, guidelines or parameters.

The only possible way to get them to that level would be an intense Behavior Mod Program. It would need to be like military boot camp: very intense highly regimented and structured environment, where every aspect of their life is controlled and there are severe penalties for non-compliance. After about 5-10 years in that environment with Behavior Mod Therapy, they might be ready to function as a team-member in a organized or structured environment at some level, but there is no possible way they could ever work alone or in a position that is unsupervised or with little supervision.

Not only are the 53% being forced to pay welfare but now a federal judge says that Florida can't force welfare recipients to take a drug test to get benefits.

These people are hopeless. They were poorly taught from day 1 and can't be changed at this point.

Even if we cut off their welfare, they would just sit there and starve to death.
So sadly, since we can't let people just die, we have to continue paying for welfare, but it should be the bare minimum. Right now it is not, some live better than me.

Then let them starve to death. It's slavery to confiscate the earnings of those who do work to hand out to the lazy who refuse to work for their living. Why should a single dime I've earned be given to some lazy person who wants to lay around and do nothing?

The true definition of slavery is not having to work for what you want, it's having others profit from your labor, the confiscation of my labor for the benefit of others.

there will always be an unproductive class.....the mentally retarded, physically handicapped, the elderly, the ill, children, the temporarily unemployed.....veterens with PTSS or injuries......I'm sure you didn't mean ALL of the unproductive class though there will always be LOOOZERS, drug addicts, drunks, chronic homeless due to mental illness etc. We're stuck with those but they are a very small minority and much of those costs are contributed through outreach programs, churches and kindhearted people....the rest due to legall levying taxes. The illegal levying of taxes for corporate welfare....now that should be a jailable offense!

No way should the working people have to support the drug addicts, drunks, losers who don't feel like working and in this day and age of all kinds of birth control plus abstinence and getting married before having kids, children are not a good excuse to have an unproductive class. No one should expect a life of welfare handouts, of laying around watching soap operas all day and filling their mouths with bon-bons bought by the taxpayers as some reward for giving birth to children they can never support.

Now the truly physically and mentally disabled, and injured veterans are another matter. Senior citizens are actually the wealthiest age group, but there is that story about the ants and the grasshopper than some apparently never learned. You have all your working years to think about retirement and to save up for it, some of course figure someone else will have to provide for them and fail to plan ahead.

IN MOST CASES these people did not pay attention in when they were in school and have very poor reading and writing skills. Most have problems with listening, attention, impulse control and working well with others. They are incredibly naive about expectations employers would have about things like showing up on time, working with bosses, difficult coworkers, dealing with boredom and time management. They show almost no knowledge or ability in the soft skills that will make or break them in the world of work.

Their problems are immense but there is little time to train them. So my question is: how much money should the government spend in an era of huge deficits to try to train these people on the "soft skills" they need to survive corporate America? Maybe your friend needs a new job. It seems like she is incompetent. Her job is to teach these skills. Sounds like she is not doing a good job. She needs to be fired. Maybe when they hire a person that is competent she can enroll in the class to learn good job skills.
