But those homeschooled kids are exposed to much more dangerous trash.

I also fail to see any benefit in teaching kids about fetishes, porn stars or bestiality.
I have never heard of a school that forces children to attend a sexual education course. Many need parental permission. If you want you can pull your child from sex ed. You can teach them that abstinence until marriage is the only way to live, and then you can help them raise the illegitimate child they had at age 15.

Unless a parent has a degree in multiple education fields, home schooling is basically child abuse. In any public school in the country your child can be taught calculus, physics, biology, etc. Unless a kid's parent is able to teach these things as well then keeping kids at home greatly limits their abilities.

As bad as some public schools are, they provide better educations than home schools do.

That's not even getting into how socially stunted home schooled kids often are.

I suggest you visit some homeschooling forums. It will open your eyes to how wrong your assumptions are.

Serious homeschoolers hire tutors to teach subjects they are not qualified to teach themselves. Homeschooling groups pool their resources as a matter of course, grouping children together to share a tutor. Homeschoolers have a very active social life involving sports as well as musical and cultural events and field trips. I live in an area where homeschooling is very popular and I see the groups all over the place and have spoken to the parents on occasion.

If you have ever met a homeschooled child, you would know that MOST of them, in fact, every single one I personally have ever met, are extremely socially skilled and excellent conversationalists.

Ivy league colleges love the homeschoolers because they are such a cut above both academically, creatively, and in terms of service to the community.

You should really think before you pop off at the mouth about things you clearly know NOTHING about!
You do realize that you are describing an ideal scenario that hardly ever happens right? That would be like me saying that Public Schools are incredible! Public school children have devoted teachers, unlimited resources, and student to teacher ratio of 15:1! When in reality such a scenario is only available in the very best public schools. I will be the first to admit that many public schools are deeply flawed, but they all provide an education that far surpasses that of any home schooled child.

Also your implication that Ivy League colleges love homeschoolers is ABSURD!

"Mr. Brenzel of Yale: We see only a few homeschooled applicants, and we do occasionally admit a homeschooled student. Evaluation is usually difficult, however. It helps if the applicant has taken some college level courses, and we can get evaluations from those teachers. We are not keen on homeschooled students where the only evaluations come from parents and the only other information available consists of test scores."
--Jeff Brenzel, Dean of Undergraduate Admissions

So in other words a student can't even get into an Ivy league school unless it has taken more traditional class at the college level with an actual teacher.

I dont see the issue.

I was taught about sex when I was 6 years old. I was taught about menstruation when I asked my mom why she douched at 8 years old. Pregnancy was a lesson I learned in 3rd grade because my aunt was pregnant with my then, youngest cousin.

My parents taught me about sex long before school did.

However, the kids in my class who didn't ,were the ones that got pregnant at 14 years of age, and the only sex education they got was a one day visit from the health counselor who didn't get to the topic of birth control because of a time limit, or their parents opted them out of the class

It's funny how emotional most of the silly people are here. Have a look at the pregnancy rates between the US and Europe. In the latter, where the government is more involved in sex education and actually teaches more liberally, the rates of teen pregnancy are remarkably lower.

The retards who insist on things like abstinence sort of fail to point this out. Sex education is taught in schools for good reason. Perhaps you guys might want to stop thumping the bibles for once and pick up some different books occasionally.

I love this post, I was the same way. Repped.

Tell them how it is! You are delaying the inevitable. If they don't have a clue they may make a mistake that can cost them their future. Of course i'm an evil New Yorker. Also many Euro countries are very supportive/foward about sex ed and do it early. You don't want to have to learn the rules of the road as you approach a stop sign.

As for home school. I wouldn't want my child to suffer from parental bias.
