BUFFALO, N.Y. — A federal jury awarded a white man $150,000 in a racial discrimination lawsuit Wednesday.
Mark Pasternak, who is white, said he was dismissed from his state job helping troubled youths because he could not tolerate being called names like "cracker," "******" and "stupid white boy."
A seven-member all-white jury found that Tommy Baines, who is black, discriminated against Pasternak and created a hostile work environment.
"I'm elated and overwhelmed," Pasternak told The Buffalo News Wednesday. "I feel like I've been to hell and back ... After all these years, the best feeling is, the jury heard his story and mine, and they believed me."
Pasternak's attorney, David Seeger, said his client took abuse from Baines for three years while the two men worked with an agency formerly known as the state Division for Youth. The facility is no longer in operation.
I really don't understand how Blacks in America can be racist towards Whites.
If it wasn't for us they would still be living in squalor in Africa. As Blacks in America have it better than anywhere on the "mother continent."
And if it wasn't for their forefathers selling them into slavery they still would be living thousands of years behind the rest of the world with no real civilization to speak of save stick-n-dung huts, spears, and other stone age-type technologies.

Same reason why whites are racist towards blacks: Distrust, ignorance, history, etc.
Plus while it's true that American blacks are the single most successful population of blacks in the African diaspora, I don't think they should be "grateful" for slavery!! Just as Irish people shouldn't be "grateful" for the Irish potato famine that brought many of them here!
Oh, here we go. Why can't they just get over it and make something of themselves instead of blaming blame the "Black man" for keeping them down? Reverse racism doesn't exist anymore. They call themselves "white boy" all the time so why can't we say it?
Ok, let me stop the sarcasm. The good thing that can come from this is maybe this will stop others from being dismissed when they are being discriminated against. I say good for him. I bet it does feel pretty good to have others to actually listen and consider how you were discriminated against instead of uttering the statements above.

Truthfully, I think many Americans may be distrustful of a group that accounts for only a tenth of the population but over half of all homicides. It's a "fight or flight" response.

I didn't say that. But if it was not for the suffering of African-Americans in slavery (many places in Africa still practice slavery), Blacks in America would not be able to have the highest standard of living for a Black population anywhere in the world, usurping any country in Africa by far.

That's still not any consolation. Imagine if your father was hit and severely crippled by a drunk driver. If he receives a 50 million dollar lawsuit settlement from the accident, which he passes to you after dying soon after. You're going to end up with a MUCH better standard of living and lifestyle because of that drunk driver's actions than what you probably would have had otherwise, but you should never be "grateful" that the accident happened to your father!
I don't think you'll be sending flowers to the family of the drunk driver to thank them for the opportunity you now have to live rich!
