it's called sarcasm.....but this is why taking snippets and not digesting an entire statement, conversation, speech, book (cough....the bible) can lead to some very misleading "re-quotes"

And do a little research. Almost NOBODY paid that rate. It had no impact on tax receipts.

So today, if we had a 90% income tax on regular incomes over 10 million per year, how much do you think the Feds would collect? Very little if any.

Now tell me what people really PAID in the 1950s.

RK - I agree. I think the big difference between now and "back then"....even tho we had just finished WWII, were entering Korea, and (we know now) Vietnam was on the back burner...

no one could ever have imagined how much our DOD budget would balloon out of control....

or how people would milk a system (eg. ADA and SSA disability checks to people who play golf?....look at the LIRR exampl for more graft)...

or let a complete industry run amok (healthcare anyone???)

control those three costs and government and its debt are fine

One thing I want to point out is in the last 20 years, something had happened in the history of this country. We have 2 Fed chairmen that do nothing expect running the printers at overtimes. It creates bubbles after bubbles. It forces everyone to be traders instead of investors. When there are more selling, then of course, their income goes up.

It doesn't make their networks change much.

If you buy and hold, you will get slaughter in this market.

Please name one federally elected official that is not part of the 1%????

I will be waiting a long time.

Our policy makers are part of the problem and we think they get what it means to live paycheck to paycheck.

yeah some may have grown up poor but I can tell you as a kid who experienced it....I did not have a clue until my parents and I have had many long talks since I made it on my own. Some of these "born into poverty and now I'm a millionaire politician" forget so easily....
