I remember Stockdale. I wasn't heavy into politics then, but I remember the total disaster of his performances.

I certainly do.

The man started out great with the "Who am I" remark which was very funny.

He then crashed and burned.

It was a shame as I recall him being a vet and an academic. Struck me as a decent fella who had no business in politics.

Yeah, he was part of the Hoover Institution.


I believe he was a prisoner of war in Vietnam.

I think he was the highest ranking POW in Vietnam & one of the morale-builders in the so called Hanoi Hilton fostering a communication code between inmates. I was in college with his son at the time.
