I hope he survives this. I really hope these protests are what brings the corrupt government to its knees!

Easiest action to take without getting hit with a canister.
When the police use a bullhorn and announce -'disperse or be arrested' you disperse from the area.

Not when you are trying to bring this corrupt government to its knees. Look at my other thread on police brutality as to what needs to happen to thugs with badges.

Occupy Oakland protests - live coverage | World news | guardian.co.uk

If you watch the videos in this link, you can see him on the ground. There was no smoke around him so it wasn't a grenade that hit him directly or by bounce up. He was probably hit by a bean bag projectile at close range (looking at how close the police line was). And while a group of people came to his aid a police officer threw a grenade into the small group. In any situation wether we agree with this protest or not this was a stupid act by a Police Officer and that PO should be held accountable for not following protocol.

That action by the police officer was unnecessary, unwarranted and deliberate. POs know the impact that canisters can have on a human being when used carelessly. It's used is to disperse people from gathering, not to be used on people gathering who go to the aid of an individual that has been injured.

Shame on the police!!!!

Every other country in the world has far more corruption and problems than we do. We are as close to a model of perfection in this world as there is.
Let the anarchists go play elsewhere.
The anarchists that happened to be an ex soldier should have already known about following the chain of command IMO.
