Muslims say crosses at Catholic University Violate “Human Rights” | FOX News & Commentary: Todd Starnes

The Tower : University Accused of Discriminating Against Muslims

And here we go. The have enrolled for school at a CATHOLIC university, and are complaining that -

Quote:
The investigation alleges that Muslim students “must perform their prayers surrounded by symbols of Catholicism – e.g., a wooden crucifix, paintings of Jesus, pictures of priests and theologians which many Muslim students find inappropriate.”
Now, I could be wrong, but this is a faith based PRIVATE institution, and the people enrolling there KNOW it is a faith based PRIVATE institution, yet they complain when this institution doesn't go out of it's way to accommodate OTHER religions?

Kinda of like going to church and complaining that they don't have prayer rugs and korans for muslims?

Really?

Smearing Muslims again....You forgot the part where the Catholic University receives public funding and you forgot the part where the University did not allow them to form a Muslim group.

Too damn bad! Live with it or get the hell out. Are we supposed to cater to every damn Muslim wish in this country? This Muslim crap is getting old.

An interesting article (the second link, to the unversities' online newspaper).

Frankly, it sounds more like John F. Banzhaf III, the George Washington University Professor of Public Interest Law, who filed the complaint, is trying to make a name for himself.

For instance, in the article itself:

Wiaam Al Salmi, a Muslim student at CUA who recently started the Arab American Association, which had is first meeting this week, said, “The community here is very respectful of other religions and I feel free to openly practice it.”

Mr. Banzhaf has apparently filed other complaints against the private university. He should probably mind his own business.

Why would one attend a CATHOLIC University, only to wish to form a MUSLIM group there?

Are there not enough colleges which are not affiliated with religion where these student could attempt this?

Oh, I see.
Time to stir the pot, ruffle the feathers, turn the Catholics out as, gasp!!!, anti-Muslim!!

Let me put a touch of bacon grease on those meals you get at said Catholic University.

Why should Muslim tax dollars fund loans to a school for students to attend, that discriminates against them?

The Catholic University of America has joined forces with the U.S. Department of Education and will participate in the Federal Direct Loan Program. Starting with the 2009/2010 academic year (fall 2009/spring 2010), Catholic University will be processing all federal loan programs exclusively through the Direct Loan Program.

You want to treat Muslims differently? Fine. Don't do it on my tax dollar.

Private universities get to choose which clubs are formed and which ones aren't. This isn't a public university, or a public-related university like Penn State and Carnegie-Mellon. It's a PRIVATE institution and they have rules to follow. If they don't like it, GTFO
