Did you see the video of the police throwing the guy (peaceful attendee) out of his wheelchair onto the ground and leaving him there face-down and bloodied, claiming that he "fell out of his chair on his own"--? Videos don't lie. So far, nothing has happened to these cops, not even a reprimand. Disgusting.
Occupy Oakland announced that, to protest the police action of Tuesday, and the injury to the injured Marine Iraq vet, Scott Olsen, they are calling for a one-day general strike against the city, to be scheduled sometime next week.
Good! Classic non-violent response to violent provocation, in the tradition of Dr King. Hope it's a big success
I hope they prove the point, this is how you get results though... screaming and shouting won't do anything, shut the city down and show them who's actually working for who.
I'm so glad I live near S.F and Oakland - all the idiots can go up there and engage in their pointless protests.
They're occupying on behalf of everyone who's not in the 1% and are getting screwed, whether these 99% acknowledge it or not. If you are not in the 1%, they are there on behalf of you. Take it or leave it, no need to bash it. You'll get the point soon enough if things keep going the way they are.
How about those who are intolerant of the beliefs of others? Do they belong in this country? Just asking................
Do you believe that riots exist when the rioters are throwing bottles at the police? How about some of the other things they have done before the police retaliated. When people like that chant that they own the streets I think they have gone too far. How many of them were taxpayers who helped maintain those streets they claimed to own?

After spending a fair amount of time searching you tube, I have yet to see a video of protesters throwing bottles, rocks or anything else at police. From what I've seen so far, the police in Oakland went way too far.
Indeed, their audacity, trying to enforce the law.
Do you know the text of the foundation document of the U.S.?
The First Amendment (Amendment I) to the United States Constitution is part of the Bill of Rights. The amendment prohibits the making of any law respecting an establishment of religion, impeding the free exercise of religion, abridging the freedom of speech, infringing on the freedom of the press, interfering with the right to peaceably assemble or prohibiting the petitioning for a governmental redress of grievances.
Fourth-grade American history.
The OWS was intentionally organized around nonviolence.

The law fear no law. If the cops go bad who are you going to call ?
