You think you are smart?
Smart has nothing to do with having knowledge.
Smart has nothing to do with memorizing things or passing tests.
Smart has nothing to do with "doing the right thing".
The truth is that most people are stupid and are simply blind followers of rules/laws and methods that they don't question. They just follow the crowd and do like everyone else.
Many people think they are "smart" because they know how to do something. But think about that for a second. Let's say you know how to make a Word document, well, all you have is "product knowledge". In fact most of what people know in life is simply product knowledge. Driving a car, using Windows or Linux, cooking a meal, etc. Product knowledge and memory.
That's right, knowing how to turn on a faucet is knowing simply how to use someone else's product/invention. Nothing amazing there.
So for all you certified, graduated people that have studied hard for years, well, I hope you found a good job that makes you feel free. After all, what is so smart about getting in debt and being an 8-5 slave?
So this leaves you wondering two things. Either you are too stupid to understand what I am telling you here OR you wonder well, then just what is "Smart"?
Well, I will tell you. Smart is knowing how to do things instinctively, logically and dynamically. Smart is anticipating the consequences. Smart is something you feel. You can't learn how to be smart. You either have it or you don't.
Some interesting points, except the "all or nothing" statements are not consistent with a "smart" post.
Smart has "nothing" to do with having knowledge? Smart people DO accumulate knowledge, and refine it over time. So smart people will have far more knowledge at age 50 than non-smart people.
"You can't learn how to be smart"? Actually, you can learn to enhance many of the characteristics of intelligence. You can train your memory, logical skills, problem-solving abilities, etc.
Of course intelligence is multi-faceted and includes many different skills. And driving a car requires almost no intelligence, while designing and building one requires quite a bit. Too bad our society doesn't value or compensate those who DO design, build, engineer and problem-solve.
But the most true statement of the post is this one: "The truth is that most people are stupid and are simply blind followers of rules/laws and methods that they don't question. They just follow the crowd and do like everyone else." If people learned how to THINK, and not simply follow the ideas of an authority figure, we'd all be better off.

You misunderstand the concept. You are not walking a "smart" person into surgery room.
Most surgeons are people that learned the industry's products well. For example, the use of a scalpel, use of high-tech surgery cams or how to put on the neoprene gloves, etc.. Doing surgery well is knowing how to use all the products involved. It has nothing to do with being smart. What is smart about working 12 hour days?
We need to stop complicating things that are simply product knowledge.
I think some people need to return to their "product knowledgeable" person and have their medication levels checked.
