Good, I can finally setup my crema-to-matic machine. All I need is a long enough extension cord.

Creepy. I would rather see stuff like that in the museum.

Burial does not release the spirit, according to my ancestors.
The spirits are left to create havoc in the tribe.

The smoke carries the spirit to the heavens and away from being earthbound.

I am Cherokee, with a dash of Seminole.

I am for cremation. Indeed, even as I type I find that I am on fire. I am not sure if that means I am dead, or if that cat got hold of the matches again. I shall have to investigate.

I don't get the OP's aversion to living near a cemetary. Shoot, here in the South, you can have one right on your family land. We're buying land and looking at an old plantation. It has an old slave cemetary on it. Personally, I thought that was pretty neat and love the idea of having it there. That said, I appreciated the way a lot of my ancestors buried their dead. We have vaults and then your dead is just "stacked" in there. Saves a lot of room.

Being resurrected on judgement day is not the reason Christian's bury their bodies as opposed to cremation. God is quite capable of reassembling ashes.

But we should seriously STOP burying our dead and taking up so much useful land. Think of how many times you've driven by a house you thought was beautiful, possibly wanting to buy it and then you realize that its right next door to a cemetary. Yuck.

We as a society should stick to cremation, its cleaner and it is the right thing to do. Also it is very inexpensive.

Before you get all emotional about this, you need to consider that this idea would help almost every city in the world gain valuable land. Land that can be used to benefit the living. Such as homeless shelters, hospitals, parking lots, salons, etc.
I would love to live next to a cemetary. I doubt I would find quieter, more agreeable neighbors.
