The OP is spot on. 61% vs 40% makes a world of difference. Everyone who wants a new president should not need to be told what those numbers are. For the uninformed, 61% turned out in '08, 40% in '10. The norm in a presidential is high 50s, in off years, high 30s, so the 20% gap, almost all in regions where TP is miniscule matters deepely. The TP if they sincerely want change need to insure the nominee appeals to independent, swing state voters. This field, except for MR and Huntsman, has little appeal in non Hardcore red regions. A disaster waiting to happen at which point the TP will be held 100% accountable.

Celebrating 2010 needed to end 11/3/2010. It would be like SF celebrating last years World series this year. Last I checked, they will not be holding a parade in SF in 2011. 2012 will not be won by changing 1,000 Congressional votes. National elections require nationally pleasing candidates. Not local yokos who can get 500 hillbillies to show up who normally stay home.

Count on it. Born in hate and now their hate helps Obama

Hate?? The Tea Party happens to be the American people and what we really stand for, which is freedom, patriotism, and success. Not exactly like the hate agenda that the left wishes to impart upon this country, as they are clearly against those things.

There are millions of people in this country who intend to vote against Obama in 2012 and they aren't part of the Tea Party in any way.

So what part of that said to call Obama a ghetto goon.

There are millions no doubt who will turn away from the GOP due to the TP invasion like I, who voted with the GOP in 2008, backspace.

The poll numbers that matter will be in 8-10 max swing states, and the TP will ruin the GOP in them, if not controlled by nominating a mainstream, moderate. MR or Huntsman will a fellow mod would do well in them, win over millons of BO '08 voters, and lose very few JM '08 voters. A TP formula is DOA Nov, 2012.

Bear in mind, Obama won in '08 with many MILLONS of votes to spare. It was a wipeout in swing states. Forget adding on in Alabama or Tn, that adds ZERO electoral votes. Think Colorado and the like. Those states count.

The extra 20% make 11/2/2010 inconsequential.

Exactly right. Naturally they have to play the race card at every turn. They are grasping at straws.
