"Republicans favor tax cuts for the wealthy and corporations, but these had no stimulative effect during the George W. Bush administration, and there is no reason to believe that more of them will have any today," writes Bruce Bartlett. He's an economist who worked for Republican congressmen and in the administrations of Presidents Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush.
As for the idea that cutting regulations will lead to significant job growth, Bartlett said in an interview, "It's just nonsense. It's just made up."
Most of us already knew this, but for those of you he believed the Republican candidates. Here is your sign.
Of course it's made up. People only support capitalism because that's what they've been programmed to believe in since they were little kids. Society, media, schools (from kindergarten all the way through college), places of employment, all push free-market capitalism as the only option. If individuals would examine the evidence for themselves, they will see that socialism makes far more sense.
Socialism and state economic planning is the only system that will create stable living-wage jobs and reduce income inequality.

To heck with freedom and liberty, mediocrity for all because the state dictates it!
Keep your Marxist programming out of the schools please and take Bill Ayers with you.
Great article, but as usual it will fall on deaf ears. The super elites have manipulated a group of mindless sheep that will fight all their battles for them, even when it means destroying our country along the way.

Socialism is freedom and liberty. Freedom from Wall Street criminals, freedom from the elite 1%, liberty from the corrupt multinational corporations who are willing to ruin your life to save a penny. Freedom to live under a just economic system, liberty to have a stable job and a roof over your head, freedom to obtain an education, liberty to advance your place in society.
Capitalism is nothing more than wage slavery for 99% of the population. Under capitalism, the investors, speculators, and corporate executives -- and their property, the politicians -- are the masters, while poor and middle-class Americans are the indentured servants.

Who said anything about Marxism? Socialism and Marxism are not the same thing. Who said anything about Bill Ayers?

Deaf ears is right. All they have been conditioned to understand is Regulation and taxes on the Rich is bad for the economy. They have heard this every day from all sides of the conservative political spectrum. It does not matter if they don't have any data to support it. IF they hear it often enough they believe it, even it is simply not true. Even if the conservative economists believe it is not true.
Hell we still have a good section of the population who still believe that Iraq had WMD's even after Bush told them that they didn't. Just very good conditioning.

Exactly. It's psychological and social conditioning, and the conservatives are devouring it like a dog would a t-bone steak. They are voting against their own best interests, and they are proud of it. They are helping destroy their own lives.

There can be freedom and liberty in a socialist society just as there can be freedom and liberty in one that is not, i.e., socialism is not the embodiment of freedom or liberty.
I can already feel this thread sinking into that black hole where threads that challenge conventional wisdom go to die. Too bad.
