The question becomes as it does with any of these technologies is how much energy is going into the machine versus what is coming out?

For example if you went through the process of heating the plastic to produce gasoline and then burned the gasoline in an electric generator it would be far more efficient just to burn the plastic and use that in the electric generator.

For some peculiar reason, I think that if the machine is legitimate, it will wind up being buried and never heard from again. I can't quite put my finger on why Detroit won't be interested.

A few years back, kids at a tech school in Brooklyn created a car that ran on used cooking oil. The only noticeable side effects were 1) it took three or four extra seconds to accelerate from zero to 55, and 2) the car smelled like French fries. You notice how quickly it disappeared (of course, there could be a vigorous Anti-French Fry Odor lobby!)

It didn't disappear. I know quite a few people that specifically went out and bought diesels so they could convert them. Almost all of them are claiming 80% or more reduction in fuel cost.

They just have to filter the oil and have somewhere to store it.

They call it a diesel engine, this is nothing new. There is only so much cooking oil to go around and if this were take off it it would soon cost as much as diesel.
