Yes. Illegals are doing just about anything they can to break the laws and be "poor" over here. It sure beats working for a living where they're from because "poor" here means more food on the table than they've ever seen before, "poor" means completely free doctor visits, maternity stays in the hospital, kids get free meals at school, there is free day care with Head Start.

Most of our very poor are living here illegally. They don't mind at all, they never knew that being poor could be so good. They gladly sneak over the border to work seasonal jobs that might bring in $8000 a year and have more children than college graduates can afford.

If being poor in the USA weren't so nice, we would have a whole lot less people moving over.

And it will soon be that way in this country too. I wonder which countries are going to welcome our poor and give them all these options.

Our poor don't have the option of moving to Canada or Mexico to try to compete in their job market. Those countries have recognized borders.

Being "American Poor" means you have clean water to drink, (probably some kind of Xbox or Playstation game system), a gov't subsidized roof over your head, and a way to get at least one meal a day.

Take that to Sub Saharan Africa, or any country South of the US Border.

American poor are luckier and RICHER than any other poor person on the planet.

Not sure where you got this information but you may want to do a recheck.

If people from sub Saharan Africa are in dire straits they can apply to come legally on a humanitarian basis.

People from south of the border have it no worse than people in the US. They have homes, schools and FREE medical care. They are not starving. But I guess it is improper to think we shouldn't invite them on over anyway so they can get their free X Box. Maybe someone could publish the address of the person that wants to pay for them. And also, what would be the address we should send our homeless citizens to? I guess some of them didn't get the memo since they DON'T HAVE AN ADDRESS!

The ranks of America's poorest poor have climbed to a record high _ 1 in 15 people _ spread widely across metropolitan areas as the housing bust pushed many inner-city poor into suburbs and other outlying places and shriveled jobs and income.
New census data paint a stark portrait of the nation's haves and have-nots at a time when unemployment remains persistently high. It comes a week before the government releases first-ever economic data that will show more Hispanics, elderly and working-age poor have fallen into poverty.
This is the group of people the GOP believes should be paying more taxes.

I'm no Obama fan, but let's be honest. When he took office there was a steaming pile left on his desk.

Blaming Obama (or even the congress) for the whole current mess is like blaming the governors of Hiroshima and Nagasaki for the messy streets the day after.

If you're too partisain to acknowledge that, then you're not worth talking to.

1 in 15 is the poorest of the poor. Income for single is $5570 and family of 4 is $11157 What is the value of food stamps, medicare, earned income credit to be added to those figures?
