What would otherwise be a just another development in the field of cosmetic technology has turned to some as a step toward fascism. At least according to some left-minded folk commenting on the news:

I remember that a certain "someone" had a preference for blue eyes just a few decades back... delightful that the sentiment persists. I'm sure he'd be absolutely giddy if he were alive today.
If you are a rational person you would probably find that kind of thinking mildly amusing. After all, millions of people around the world get surgery that permanently changes a feature in their body or face. How many Jewish and other celebrities have gotten rhinoplasty to make their noses smaller and similar to "Anglo" ones? Yet, no one is dumb enough to mutter about them trying to emulate Nazi ideology.
Seems like Nordic reverse-fetishism is rampant in leftist ideology. Anytime people out of their own free will choose to change their appearance in a way that somehow resembles "Nordic whites" it becomes a disgusting outrage to them.

And let's not play dumb here, once you read the comments you can pretty much figure out the point of view from liberals about this. They are just repelled by the fact that people could turn their eyes blue to look like the "ideal of the Nazis", at least from the perspective coming from many of them.

I shudder to think about the animal experiments to perfect this procedure. Why would anybody undergo such invasion, when they can pop in a contac lens? I think most cosmetic surgery is stupid anyway. Be happy you got all your fingers and limbs in the right place.

In the end its personal choice. I wouldn't try to say that people were "wrong" for doing it. Considering there are more invasive procedures that people get for cosmetic or personal reasons.
I guess some fear that because of it popularity, a lot of people will want to get blue eyes and somehow be a testament that white features are superior. A lot of people also want to be taller or get more muscular, does that mean they want to be like blacks or Samoans? But since those are allegedly ethnic attribute, the liberals will celebrate it and not denigrate them.
