Sure is. BB are the one scamming each other out of money on Wall Street and running crony politics in Washington. BB have a vote and they voted in criminals in Washington. Now let them reap the consequences for their actions, they deserve no SS bailout.
I would love to see what happens if ss were stopped tomorrow. There would be a massive desent on Washington DC by millions of seniors with pichforks and torches.The good ole boy's from the beltway would be hung from the highest tree. Your description is probably correct. If you think the OWS movement is big, just drop Social Security and watch what an ORGANIZED movement can do,....and the boomers don't need donations to make the movement successful.
Boomer protests might be good for the economy. Boomers would stay in quality hotels, frequent quality restaurants, and wouldn't have a bunch of drumbeaters to keep everyone awake, and tents marring the neighborhoods. Boomers can be intimidating with their pocketbooks and numbers,...unlike the clueless young'uns dirtying the streets in New York.
So they were forced, their WHOLE lives, to give money to a system, and now they're out of luck?
How about we cut the true waste first? Like loaning money to administration donors to run useless companies. Or defund the Department of Education.
Yeah defund the Dept of Education only though it accounts for less than 5% of the total budget. Almost 2/3 of the budget comes from SS and medicare socialist payouts. Let's attack the real problem here.
You can gripe and moan all you want, but NOTHING is going to happen to the "boomers" who are drawing Social Security. We are strong,...both financially and politically,...have paid into a system for decades,...and will use our political strength to GUARANTEE that the system remains in place until we are all dead. After that, you can have it.

Medicaid is a state run system to help the disabled and poor people including kids.
Two out of every three dollars spent on Medicaid goes to supporting people who are also covered under Medicare. Except that Medicaid isn't funded via taxes (like an attempt is made for Medicare, although to the effect of only a fraction of the Medicare costs).
nope, they aren't. i actually have some interest in the country as a whole being solvent while i'm alive, and after i die.

you paid taxes to support your elders, with no promise of getting anything in return.
this is the same contract i'm involved in. there is no guarantee Medicare and SS will be there for me when I retire, i'm just obligated to pay for the current beneficiaries.

The Social Security system is an insurance system originally designed to protect the income and spending of elderly people that did or could not protect their savings or investment from a general economic collapse of a crooked banker.
BTW - My bank is solvent, my house is worth far more than the remaining mortgage and my retirement account increased in value in 2997. I worry about the people that were suckered by the financiers.
That's too bad for those people. They were screwed by their fellow peers. Baby boomers run the banks and run Washington politics that allowed corporate malfeasance to go unpunished. BB policies did themselves in, now let them eat the consequences. Their SS handouts should be cut in order to help deal with the problems BB created.
It is absolutely their fault. If a person doesn't plan well for their future, or if a person doesn't diversify investments, shame on them.
