So what did happen...

Two days after Republicans on the so-called super committee, led by Pennsylvania Sen. Pat Toomey, offered a $1.5 trillion package that included, for the first time, new tax revenue to the tune of about $300 billion, Democrats are rejecting the offer.

"We have a big gap with respect to where we are on revenue," panel Democrat John Kerry told a handful of reporters Wednesday morning. "The Toomey approach will not work. We've told them that very directly. We have to find a different way to come at it."

We spend more money on defense now than when we were in the "Cold War" with the Soviet Union.
The most we have to worry about is a handful of alledged terrorist running around in the mountains half way around the world.

The Dems simply will not accept any entitlement cuts, they refuse to compromise. They want all the revenue shortfall made up by tax increases. It isn't a winning position. The Republicans are outmaneuvering the Dems, and they are unhappy, hence they run from negotiations.

They can no longer claim the Republicans refuse to move on the revenue side. They are in a box.

I believe the process is called negotiations. The Repubs again offered up big tax cuts to a few their friends, since that has been long proven to be ineffective, the Dems rejected it. The back and forth continues.

Try again. The dems have had huge cuts on the table since day one. The right as usual will not cut one penny from their outrageous tax cuts to the rich and handouts to their corporate cronies.

So instead of talking differences out at the meeting they walk out? That is pretty 9 year old behavior. Do you think that they planned to do this all along? I have been amazed that they didn't do it long ago since they never intended to do anything in a bi-partisan way.

This thing was nothing but a farce from the beginning and the Dems proved that there is no way to do anything in a bi-partisan manner. Now lets listen to Obama whine and howl about how the 6 Republicans caused their 6 Dem "friends" to walk out. Yep, it is the GOP who are the obstructionists since they offered a $30 billion increase in taxes for 10 years.

Pick up your ball and run home crying about the bad guys wanting to play but not by your rules. Poor kids.
