Well it serves no practical purpose. They can't be sued for raising taxes. I guess they are embarrased that they ever signed the document to begin with and now have buyers remorse. I don't really blame them.

This is a fundamental split in the Republican Party power structure. The Republicans that want to stay in Congress realize the voters have caught on to their "trickle down" economic nonsense and want to increase taxes on the very wealthy.

Or more likely government has DOUBLED in size since they've signed the pledge and they dont agree with trillion dollar deficit yearly spending.
