And when is the last time any former president ran for another office after leaving the White House?
William Taft didn't run for another office, but he was appointed Chief Justice of the United States Supreme Court.
Theodore Roosevelt ran for President in 1912, four years after leaving office.
Andrew Johnson ran for the Senate ten years after leaving the Presidency, and won.
John Tyler was elected to the House of Representatives of the Confederacy but died before he could take office.
And John Quincy Adams served nine terms in the House of Representatives after losing the 1828 Presidential election.
Personally, I think it would be interesting to see an ex-President seek another office, but none of the current crop are going to do so, it seems. Maybe some day...

Since FDR, there is a 2 term rule. Clinton can't run again.

Actually, since Truman.
Anyway, thanks for pointing out a glaringly obvious fact that has nothing whatsoever to do with my post.

It's pretty simple really. I just happen to lean towards the middle and am not too fond of the conservative movement of the party. I also found Sen. Dole to be a very personable man and he reminds me of someone I used to know and be quite fond of.
But the whole NAFTA thing? Phooey. Ditto on the Viagra commercials. Way too much TMI for my liking. But nobody is perfect I suppose.
Clinton can't run for office again. Thanks for playing.
I never said I wanted him to do so.
Thanks for revealing the depths of your Clinton obsession such that a mere mention of past Presidents who sought office -- even by posters who specifically say another office, and who specificially note that none of the current ex-Presidents seems likely to do so -- sends you frantically whining about Presidential term limits.

Knew about Quincy Adams and TR, but I didn't know about Tyler and Andrew Johnson.
The only office Taft ever ran for was the Presidency unless he ran for a local office in Cincinnati before he was named to the Ohio Supreme Court. Most of his political life was spent in appointed positions. He'd been Secretary of War under TR before running for President. He would have preferred the SCOTUS to the presidency but TR didn't appoint him to the court.
As for ex-presidents holding other political jobs, Bill Clinton's health probably makes a SCOTUS appointment unlikely and I couldn't see him running for any office. I really doubt Bush wants to be back in any political job at this point, even an appointed one.
That would be news to the Reagan family. He had substantial support from both parties, plus independents, just like Clinton.
