I recently learned that the law preventing Insider Trading does NOT apply to Congress. Does anyone know of what the "rationale" for this would be. There must be some kind of "excuse" for it. What is the legal loophole that would allow our government officials to profit big time from inside knowledge regarding Wall Street? Why do we let them get away with this?
I started another thread about Pelosi being investigated regarding her investments that talked about this and I'm glad its being investigated. But, the bigger question is why the free ride for Congress in general? Seems like this should be a big gripe to everyone - both D's & R's - even among the Occupiers.

the thing you have to listen to is that all politicians in dc say, do as I say and not as I do.
Because the system is one big racket. The US government is totally corrupt, rotten to the core working hand in hand with Wall Street to rob us blind. We have a Mafioso style government run by mobsters who call themselves democrats and republicans. This is what the Occupy movement is fighting against.

The occupiers are in fact protesting the government. But the corporate media which is owned by Wall street isn't reporting it. The movement is peaceful, but they only report on the handful of 'violent' incidents (99% of which is instigated by the police) and blow it out of proportion in order to smear OWS.

My point was point was I believe both parties enjoy the benefit oif groups like OWS and the TeaParty targetting only one side, it keeps the focus off the mediocrity (and that's being very generous) of both sides.

No, they're mainly targeting Wall Street, the "rich", and those "evil banksters". It's a movement based in class warfare, not holding our politicians' feet to the fire for their involvement in the political corruption.
I'll ignore your comments about OWS being a peaceful movement so as not to completely derail this thread.
