I agree with you - this action (if as reported) is completely disgusting.

But as I said, people blinded by their own righteousness will go to extremes if they think it's in the name of justice. That includes an action like this - even against somebody not hostile towards you or your cause.

That said, having been dragged down (by a friend visiting NYC who wanted to go) to OWS a few days ago and listening to these people, I think I can safely say a majority of the OWS will be furiously upset with the actions of the people (or person) who did this. I highly doubt this is something the movement agreed upon doing.
