That isn't really true. In England they say they're "going to hospital" instead of "going to the hospital". That's just as grammatically incorrect as anything in ebonics.

Oh really? Ever watch an interview with an English Man or and Irish man who have a thick accent on the History Channel or Discovery channel programs?

Well, when you actually see it, I'll be right there with you. Until then, we're all going to look at you quizzically when you write something like you did in the OP.

The subtitles are used whenever the producers/editors feel that they're necessary. I've seen them used more for caucasians than any other racial group.

You wrote as if there's some grand conspiracy by some single entity that is "TV" or something. Every network is run by different people, and every show has a different production crew. There is no conspiracy. Wise up.

no doubt someone complained and threatened law suit, bek they were having trouble understanding the speaker they accused the media of deliberately attempting to prevent his right to free speech by clever media manipulation. that is why they did subtitles???

Never heard that.

However, I have noticed more than few English speakers saying:

Going to work.

Going to college.

So dropping the definte article would not seem to be a transgression in some cases.

Or do they think we are so stupid that we can't understand what these people are saying?
I used to watch trading places or something where the parents would switch families with one completely opposite than them. One episode featured a white Louisana bayou couple kind of free spirit changing places with a buttoned down black family from up North. Well they used captions for the white couple and kids and good thing they did. I could not understand one word they were saying.

Also watch some British shows they will throw up captions quick when they are featuring folks from Scotland.

I'm sorry, but I just can't take you seriously if you can't even spell the man's name correctly.

Maybe I should say that you're the racist - after all, you spelled his name with a "K", which is the same letter repeated in "KKK!"

Do you have any idea just how silly this whole thread is? Seriously - you're searching for racism and using any excuse you can imagine to see it. Get real.

That's different because it's general not specific.

Anyway I don't see what's transgressive about saying "I be going to the store". Everyone understands what that means. It's actually a truer conjugation of the verb "to be".

I think Aesop had a story that might be applicable.
