I want the sincerely thank the conservative CD members.

As a fiscal conservative and a social liberal (low taxes, limited federal government, smart and limited federal spending, legalized drugs and prositution, pro protecting the life of mother AND baby, anti war, etc), I find the way I am treated and spoken to completely different from conservatives and liberals.

The conservatives have been kind, willing to discuss my views that differ from theirs, don't insult me and seem genuinely nice.

The liberals on the other hand refuse to believe I voted for Obama once, refuse to believe I can be conservative on some issues and liberal on others, refuse to believe I was against many of Bush's policies, often times insult and attack me, and just do not seem very happy.

Why is it that the conservatives don't seem to have much of a problem with my liberals tendencies, but the liberals have a major problem with my conservative tendencies? Are liberals and conservatives wired differently?

Liberals are generally intolerant of anything they don't like, they play on topics like racism and immigration for their own benefits and they have no problem with breaking laws when it benefits their causes.

They just have a really big problem accepting other opinions. Which seems odd to me, since they like to pride themselves with acceptance.

Grover Nordquist used to talk about the 'leave us alone' coalition. Your summary of your position could almost have been about me. Conservatives are inherently 'leave us alone' i.e. 'you do your thing, I'll do mine, as long as there is no force or fraud involved, we don't need to concern ourselves with each other.'

Liberals are inherently collectivist. If you want to go off on your own, you're a threat, and you're attacking their beliefs. I believe it's as simple as that.

Unless you want to have an abortion, get married to a person of your same sex, and a host of other things.

My views are very similar to yours and I haven't found that to my experience. To be honest, my experience has been completely opposite of yours.

Why do conservatives profess beliefs that they don't follow? If only conservatives actually were "live and let live" and believed in less federal Government, legalized drugs, limited spending, anti-war. I consider myself an Independant Liberal and strongly believe in all those things. It is usually the consevatives that oppose these beliefs.

To the Op: It seems that you should be supporting Ron Paul and no other candidate with what you stated...Do you and if not, why not?

That's not true at all, you're confusing conservatives with religious conservatism and the 2 are very different. I don't care if you get an abortion (as long as my tax dollars don't fund it)and I don't care who or what you marry (as long as it has a job and pays taxes).
