We have all heard about the terrible things that has happen among OWS groups. There have been deaths. Organizers are attacking police. The GOP says this nationwide group is toxic for the democrats. Democrats do need to be careful. They shouldn't overly embrace this movement because it may turn off independents and moderates. But at the same time Democrats need to address their concerns because as chaotic as things have become, these people will be voting in large numbers in 2012. Most OWS are liberals to begin with so democrats need to be mindful in what they say and do. A "chaotic" movement with angry democrats tired of GOP policies may help Obama get re-elected and help democrats gain a significant number of seats in congress.
The OWS movement is made up of liberals and Democrats, they've been hijacked by the left wing fringe and are not puppets in a funny little game. Democratic leaders including Obama sit and watch these useful idiots freezing while sleeping in public parks and they laugh because they know when it comes down to it, they'll support Democrats no matter what.
OWS just brings attention to the issue--getting big business and the financial industry out of government--but as the debate over those issues has grown (because of OWS), they're not the only group out there calling for change. That's the whole point--get this country talking about our completely screwed up system, and make that issue the focus of work that many organizations take on. I don't think it's going to matter what OWS does or doesn't do in the very near future--it's getting bigger than that. The average American is sick of this country being bought and sold. Our corrupt system isn't a D or R issue--it's an American issue. Pressure has to be put on BOTH sides to change the system. OWS started it, but that doesn't mean they're going to be the ones to finish it.
I think you'd be surprised at how many very moderate Americans on both sides of the aisle support this issue--there's nothing radical or crazy about wanting to end corruption in government.
When a group occupies a public park, anybody can join in. Every nutcase wanting free food can enter.
Any nutcase can crap on the sidewalk. How can we identify who any of these folks are? Some say those European trouble makers are at some occupies. Some say NYPD takes released prisoners and drops them off at OWS.
I hear the various occupy police activities are being coordinated by HS. You know there are undercover HS and FBI and CIA and cops all over the place. Kinda hard for O to say he supports the thought and have the DOJ quashing it at the same time. The D's are in a tough spot. I don't think the occupies want their support.
I also hear OWS is moving to Statten Island for encampment and will send shifts to the park. They will never give up and this will last for a long, long time.
If the interest on money markets doesn't go up as fast as the price of food, this old woman may be on the next bus north to NYC.
