Who are the rising stars in the Democratic Party? (ethical, Reagan, Glenn Beck)

How? Hispanic voters have practically given up on the GOP. When a voting block that big already, and future growth will accelerate, writes you off you are in big trouble.
Rising stars in the Democratic Party? I'd say Hillary is actually gaining more in popularity. Obama should make her his VP and stomp on the GOP in 2012.
If being against illegal immigration is all it takes to drive away the Hispanic vote then maybe we're better off without them.
Actually Obama was heavily favored to win. During this time was just after former Governor Ryan was arrested for his corruption scandals and bogus CDL license scheme, the state was shifting very strongly to the left.
You might be somewhat right about this but my memory was that Obama was an underdog before the scandal broke. According to the Wikipedia entry about Ryan. A Chgo Trib poll in May 2004 had Ryan leading 52% to 30%: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jack_Ryan_(politician)
Quote:
In May 2004, two polls were conducted statewide where the Chicago Tribune poll found Ryan trailing Obama 52% to 30% [9] while the Sun Times reported that he was trailing Obama 48 percent to 40 percent in the U.S. Senate race, according to a new Daily Southtown poll of 500 likely Illinois voters [10][11] On June 22, 2004, after receiving a report from the referee, Judge Schnider released the files that were deemed consistent with the interests of Ryan's young child. In those files, Jeri Ryan alleged that Jack Ryan had asked her to perform sexual acts with him in public in sex clubs in New York, New Orleans, and Paris. Jeri Ryan described one as "a bizarre club with cages, whips and other apparatus hanging from the ceiling."
Ryan had an MBA and JD from Harvard, and was a partner in Goldman Sachs (maybe we were lucky not to get him as US Senator). He had retired (at approx age 41) from Goldman with a net worth of several hundred million, and was working as a teacher at an inner city Chicago school.
I guess you could say that Anthony Weiner was a rising star in the Democratic party but he took too many pictures of it and you see where that landed him.
I was reading the thread in 'elections' by 'rikoshaprl' about the 2008 Dem presidential field, and it reminded me of a question I've been wondering about.
The Democratic party really lucked into getting Barack Obama as a candidate in 2008. He had been a huge underdog running for US Senate against Jack Ryan in 2004, until Ryan withdrew from the race due to a sex scandal (Ryan had taken his wife to swingers clubs). But for the unsealing of Ryan's divorce papers, and the revelation of the sex club stuff, we probably never would have heard of Obama, and Hillary might well be president today.
By what logic was Obama a 'huge underdog' to Ryan? It's Illinois: Kerry carried the solidly-blue state by over 10%. Obama won his primary with a majority vote while Ryan barely cleared 1/3rd of the vote in a plurality win. Ryan never led in a single poll, before or after the unsealing of the birth records.
There's no basis for saying Obama was ever the underdog, much less a 'huge underdog'.

I could be wrong but it doesn't seem like the current Democratic party has anybody else who sends a tingle down anybodys' legs (in the immortal words of Chris Matthews). I could be wrong but it doesn't seem like Pelosi, Reid, and other candidates such as Durbin, Schumer, and Feinstein, are even very loved among Democrats. The last three were all mentioned as possible majority leaders when it looked like Harry Reid might lose his seat in 2008.
As a Republican, IMO the party has a lot of high caliber people right now--people such as Paul Ryan, Allen West, Marco Rubio, Bobby Jindal, and Eric Cantor. There are others less well known, but impressive such as NM Gov. Susana Martinez.
So Democrats, who are the stars out there, known or unknown, who send a tingle down your leg? I am honestly curious to get opinions....
No tingles, but I expect the nominee will be Clinton, more likely than not, while also noting that 2016 is a long ways away and a lot can change in that time.
And while you list a lot of Republicans with passionate followings, it's worth noting that when it comes time to serve up Presidential nominees, the GOP machine swings behind a McCain or a Bush or a Dole or, this year, probably a Romney. Not exactly tingle-worthy.
Look at nominees of the past. Most of the time, they're not exciting. This holds for both parties.

The quote -- your quote -- is "Ryan trailing Obama 52% to 30%".
This was in May, before the divorce proceedings were unsealed on June 22, 2004.
Apparently you haven't been following politics very well. The tea party is plunging hard.
Their approval ratings are in the 20's, lower than anyone. Once coming into the house they tanked congress' approval to where it has been steady around 13%, the lowest in the history of the nation.
Scott Walker's massive backlash and now well on his way to being recalled, Ohio governor Kasich with a similar anti-middle class bill once passed plunged his approval ratings to the 30's, making him one of the most unpopular governors in the nation. Also with the recent vote to repeal the bill which won by a massive margin. Rick Scott in florida also facing strong backlash etc,...
The american people gave the tea party a chance in 2010, but have found out loud and clear they are nothing but middle-class destroying ultra right wing extremists. 2012 is looking very good for liberty against fascism, and the democrats
Which of the most popular among libs blogs, MM, Think Prog, or Kos did you get this crap from. Maybe a link would convince someone.
