Obviously all those little $146 million budgets were able to be gathered up to find the $9 Trillion in cuts. Every little bit eventually adds up to be a significant savings.
I do want to thank you for illustrating so well why with liberal leadership of Reid in the Senate no meaningful cuts have been made.
Neither side is serious about cuts because it would be the political equivalent of driving off a bridge. $146 million is not even 0.1% of 9 trillion. Cut 0.1% of your household budget and see if it makes a huge difference in your life. The speech was a joke and so is their plan.
Imagine living in a plutocratic third world country with crumbling roads, limited access to healthcare, privatized infrastructure, no mass-transit, rampant inflation, choking pollution, few workers rights, and limited economic mobility. Just imagine!

Why do liberals present such a bleak picture when the smart people say they want to make cuts? Were roads crumbling 20 years ago when we didn't have a huge deficit? I am not sure how cutting money is going to take away workers rights too. And last I looked, there will be state government to handle things which while they are still mired in corruption and red tape, they are better than the feds.
*Cutting graduate medical education grants for training new docs, awesome.
*Keeping professional payments to docs at 2011 levels as inflation creeps up, awesome.
*Get rid of safety regulations on transportation and roads, awesome.
*Get rid of food, water, and air regulations...perfect.
*Get rid of the clean up going on in superfund sites, excellent.
*Increase retirement ages...A+.
*Get rid of mass transit and rail lines (including fright right of ways), we don't need any of that.
*Get rid of 50% of public lands and national parks, and open everything to natural resource exploitation...we don't need parks or monuments.
*Cut all federal pay by 10%, great. We don't need bright people in government...just a warm body.
*Cut education, perfect. Making people educated is decidedly wrong.
*Tighten disability, excellent. We don't need to be taking care of people who lost the genetic lottery or get injured.
*Block level grants to states for medicaid...no need to take into account inflation, the really sick will just die after awhile when no one can afford treatment.
*Repeal health care for everyone, perfect again. If you need health care and work doesn't provide it, you should die quickly and cost effectively.
*Get rid of farm subsidies, perfect. We can have all the food produce by big agri-business or outsourced to China where it's cheaper.
*Reduce welfare, perfect. We don't need to be paying people who aren't making enough.
*No cost of living adjustments for federal workers, of course. Inflation doesn't affect federal workers at all.
*Sell off the gold in Fort Knox, perfect. Get rid of that shiney metal we have.
*Keep the Bush Tax Cuts, A+. Millionaires can't afford to live without that cuts, compared to those at the poverty level.

Obama will be on the stump soon, in front of his Media crooners, stating that Republicans haven't given him one idea on how to help our budget.
He will be on CBS, ABC, NBC, MSNBC and the rest. The Liberal's will hear him say that Republicans are obstructionists and don't offer any ideas.
The sheep will believe him.
And Harry Reid won't pick any proposal from the House - ever.
These progs can't understand what you are saying. They sure do believe Obama about the lack of suggestions from the GOP and will continue to do so even if the GOP tries to get this idea through Congress. Yep, they will lie down and say what else do you have for us, master.

Sorry had to add this, Roy...you are not a billionaire. You are not one of the 1% top income earners in this county. You are a janitor that watches/reads Beck (as you state) 4 hours a day, every day. You may not be living in a tent like OWS, but you ain't a jet set mogul.

Well yeah, but many of those who are working for the progressive cause are living in tents on public grounds in much the way you suggest we will all get to do. I am not one of the 99% and sure don't want to live like they do.

Shrinking government won't stop the spending at an unsustainable rate. That's what y'all don't seem to be getting, here, that the government is not creating all this debt, it is the private banking system. Wake up!
i suppose if you think government spending is the cause of all our problems, then this is the solution.
I think you are correct here. We all need to decide if we spend too much or are we taxed are not taxed enough. Once you decide than then you can decide if you try to control spending or just tax people more.
