It shouldn't be about re-election. Representing this country should be a duty, not a job.

Obama will make a speech written by some dude about the talks failing and he will "make" them create a plan that "does" something.

Obama was born in Hawaii.

The current crop of Republican candidates running for office declared long before the super committee existed. There are no good Republican candidates running for office because the pickings is few.

In any case, slashing government spending while the economy is depressed destroys jobs, and it’s probably even counterproductive in terms of deficit reduction, since it leads to lower revenue both now and in the future. So, it's good for this committee to fail.

The federal government will be spending somewhere around $40 Trillion in the next 10 years but yet the bright stars of politics can't find $140 Billion a year [3.5%] to cut from future budgets.

It's not really a matter of finding $140B a year. Democrats rightly rejected the Republican proposal to cut Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid for the 99% and make the Bush tax cuts for the wealthy permanent.

it always seems that when there is a budget shortfall, the axe falls on the middle-class and not the rich, who got trillions in tax-cuts 10 years ago.

Default Insiders: "Super Committee" likely to fail

Aides: 'Super Committee' likely to announce failure to reach debt deal - CNN.com

This REALLY infuriates me!

What the ****, people?? Can you not grow a freaking pair, put your stupid political BS aside for once, and DO SOMETHING?

Republicans - raise taxes on the rich for a few years. DON'T CARE IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT - JUST SHUT UP AND DO IT. This is what compromise looks like.

Democrats - cut some of your pet social projects. DON'T CARE IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT - JUST SHUT UP AND DO IT. This is what compromise looks like.

Jesus H Christ. With the whole world watching and all that is at stake, they can't even at least come to the table with some portion of the cuts? Zero is the best they can do? That is PATHETIC. We should fire all of these people asap.

It is to Obama's benefit if the "Super Committee" fails. It gives him the platform against a "do nothing Congress". The Democrats on this likely unConstitutional Super Congress are happy to oblige their POTUS by making it fail.
