While 23.5% say they should be legal.

Among Conservatives, 6.5% say same sex marriage should be legal with 87.5% saying illegal. Among Moderates, 22% favor it being legal with 69% saying it should be illegal.

Overall, 78% of Mississippians say same sex marriage should be illegal with 13% saying legal.

Age breakdown:
18-29: 16% legal, 72% illegal
30-45: 15% legal, 76% illegal
46-65: 12% legal, 80% illegal
66+: 10% legal, 78% illegal

Even the majority of Democrats say it should be illegal at 66% with 19% saying legal.
Republicans: 8% legal, 86% illegal
Independents: 16% legal, 81% illegal

For interracial marriage: overall, 60% say they should be legal while 23% say illegal.

Political breakdown:
Republicans: 52% legal, 29% illegal
Democrats: 77% legal, 13% illegal
Independents: 54% legal, 23% illegal

Age breakdown:
18-29: 50% legal, 31% illegal
30-45: 61% legal, 24% illegal
46-65: 67% legal, 14% illegal
66+: 55% legal, 31% illegal

I don't know why we think things we don't like or approve of should be "illegal". That's some messed up thinking right there.

How many of those Mississippians were high school dropouts or pregnant teenagers? Since Mississippi leads the country in both categories, one might advise them to worry more about the problems they have then boys kissing...

Well, across the very conservative South, the Democrats have traditionally domiated the legislatures since Reconstruction. The South elects Democrats at the state level, and Republicans on the national level, for the most part.
