I imagine the Ohio NG has some new people since 1968. You saying what you said about that situation is proof that you don't like those who protect you and others like you from those rowdy students who want to run the University but don't have any idea what would happen to them if they were sealed up on the grounds and told to run it their way.
No one has the right to be where ever they want when ever they want, even if you do it peacefully. And they aren't even all that peaceful. What a bunch of selfish lazy pigs.
The courts are there for the purpose of determining innocence or guilt. They are the proper venue for making the argument of innocence.
Choosing to make that same argument on the street is all but begging to personally experience the escalation of force.
So true. A Long beach, CA cop gave me a bogus ticket for making a lawful left-turn. I knew he was wrong, but I didn't argue with him on the street. Instead I fought it in court...and won!! Bit of advice and common sense: Always obey a police officer, even if he/she is wrong (unless he/she is ordering you to do something illegal and/or immoral like consenting to being raped, etc..that would be totally different..). You can always fight him/her in court. That is your right and the proper venue.

Well burdell, that's what they do these days. Budget cuts you know..they already had a bunch of folks arrested and maybe they just didn't have the bandwith to arrest more. FWIW they were lucky they didn't get tazed.

Professionals will employ the minimum amount of force necessary to obtain compliance. Pepper spray is a lower level of force than going hands on with the protestors.
Had the police chosen the option you advocate a number of the protestors would have been headed to the hospital rather than a water fountain to wash off the pepper spray.
