How many times has a thread espousing this identical premise been posted?
Good for Denmark and the other socialist utopias. The US is not and never will be Denmark. If people find our form of government so flawed why do they not relocate to a country with a government more to their liking?
Denmark is no utopia, neither is any country. The tale such articles tell is that clearly, a strong middle class is vital from both a social and economic perspective, meaning that perhaps a degree of socialism combined with a free market economy isn't such a bad or scary prospect after all.
Like most Americans care about socialist countries, their excessive taxation and their nanny governments...
That's because most American's are so dumb and uncultured, particularly the conservative variety, that they don't even know those other countries exist. Heck, most Americans don't even know where Iraq is. Maybe if they pulled their heads out of the sand once in awhile, they might get a more worldly perspective and stop assuming the United States is the "God Country".
The USA has been on the downswing for the last 15 years. We just started feeling its effects in 2007 to this point. Things were getting bad BEFORE President Obama came into office. I doubt anything will change within ONE terms. It took years for this to happen, and it will take years to fix this.

While I'm certainly not Obama's biggest fan, would it have really made much difference if McCain had won?
Actually, here are the rankings published by the International Monitary Fund, The World Bank and the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency.

So I just wanted to know, why are countries like Denmark, Finland, Sweden, Canada, Australia, etc... All countries with higher taxes, more social benefits and a bigger centralized government more prosperous and have a higher quality of life than the US?
GDP in 2010 (billions of dollars):
Denmark - $310
Finland - $230
Sweden - $460
Canada - $1,600
Australia - $1,200 United States - $14,500
GDP per capita in 2010:
Denmark - $36,000
Finland - $35,000
Sweden - $38,000
Canada - $39,000

I'd say the U.S. isn't dead quite yet.

Considering the U.S. is 10x the size of Canada, I would say Canada is doing far better. The GDP in the U.S. needs to be $16,000 or be better. Remember quantity does not equal quality.
GDP per capita in 2010:
Quote:
Denmark - $36,000
Finland - $35,000
Sweden - $38,000
Canada - $39,000
Australia - $40,000 Unites States - $47,000
Depending on the source. When you look at the numbers for the Dept of Commerce (US), vs Statistics Canada, this is the result.
GDP per capita $47,567 USD $47,106 USD
Canada has 0.97% greater GDP per capita.
Being socialist has nothing to do with being PROSPEROUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Those socialist countries at the top are there because they are FISCALLY RESPONSIBLE!!!!!!!!!
We would be #1 if we were FISCALLY RESPONSIBLE INSTEAD OF LIBERALLY IMMATURE CHILDREN THROWING MONEY AT WARS AND WELFARE EVERY SECOND OF THE DAY!
