This is called the "Norquist pledge" and it only proves how entrenched that the republican party is in with the corperations and extremely wealthy citizens of this country....damn the rest of us

The Pledge: Grover Norquist's hold on the GOP - …

So if you want to keep blaming the president over the economy in this country fine, but at least you know the facts why it is not true.

Please explain to me how a pledge made 18 years ago makes any sense now, under a totally different economic probelm
IMO, we don't need to raise ANY taxes, just cut spending.

Look at the chart and see how spending has increased.

Federal Budget Spending, Deficits, the National Debt, and Social Security

We are borrowing $.42 of EVERY dollar we spend.

You assume too much. No one is asking Obama to dictate anything .We are asking for him to be a leader. That is, to lead by getting involved with the Congress and coming to an agreement. That id how our gov't is supposed to work.

If you don't don't know the difference I feel sorry for you.

That may be true to a certain extent, but there is no way anyone with a rational mind can say that taxes should not be increased under no circumstances based on an economy 18 years ago Spending needs to be controlled but how is it that the gap between those who have alot and those that have very little is increasing constantly? Because of the "blackmail tactics" of this pledge it leaves the super committee in a deadlock and therefore nothing will get done. The wealthy will not get their tax breaks which is something that they had for the last ten years but they will not lose anything either. The poor and middleclass will bare the brunt because taxes will have to be raised irregardless of the spending. What people do not understand is that, true spending has to be curtailed but that is where the arguement comes in at. What programs at what cost? That will depend upon the clout of that lobbyist of that program. We all know that the poor and middleclass has no lobby so guess who will foot the bill?

Would'nt that depend on if you are a government worker (more work, less help) or someone receiving government assistance (less help, more headaches). I guess everything is peachy-keen if you don't need anything from the government (which I doubt) but if you say so

Ok, now what about those republicans that pledged not to raise taxes under any circumstances? Would'nt that be considered to be a treasonable act since they are looking out for their own best interest damn the country?

I don't think you would ever know the difference if 20% was cut, there are poeple in the government that are paid to watch people that are paid to watch people...
