The pilgrims were grave robbing, religious morons who thought that God would provide.

Squanto was God then.

Default The Great Thanksgiving Hoax

Turkey, dressing, mashed potato's and gravy and all the fixings, football and good company. I doubt to many people think of anything more than that. Relax and enjoy the day.

Actually...

"from each according to his ability, to each according to his need" is COMMUNISM.

"from each according to his ability, to each according to his contribution" is SOCIALISM

The pilgrims didn't say that. It was Karl Marx. Most historians dispute that the pilgrims had a collective system, but it makes for a great tea party myth. Before you start calling me a socialist or a communist for knowing that--I'm a moderate R. I was also a political science major (a million years ago) at a very good university. If you're going to use stories to try to make a political point, make sure the story can't be shot to pieces by facts.

From most accounts when food was abundent, and times were easier, they had a collective system.

That first winter was each for themselves.

Yay, thats what thanksgiving is all about

Like almost every holiday including Christmas and Easter, the modern version bears little resemblence to what it was about in the early days!

Unlike gravity, Socialism/Communism/Marxism is an economic and political system created by man. Did Christianity exist 300 BC? Not to mention that Karl Marx wasn't even alive in the 1600's.

Christs Mass wasn't celebrated until recently in history. For the first 1500 years or so of the church, it wasn't even a minor holiday.

They saw a pagan holiday celebrating the end of the year and the winters solstice, and had to change that because people were having to much fun.

The yule log, the green trees, and Santa Clause were all pagan symbols and characters.

The economic principles of Socialism existed before Karl Marx defined them.
