The economy IS fixing itself. The govt is only trying to alleviate the afterschocks. Now you can disagree with those policies, but it's naive to exaggarate a govt's influence.

The context is what it is, it started during the Bush years and if the govt did nothing, you'd probably complain as well.

I'm left-leaning but I have zero sympathy for people who didn't plan ahead for an economic downturn. Blaming the govt is not gonna change their situation.
So at what point did you decide I was complaining? Please don't put words in my mouth. I retired at 43 after selling my company to a much larger company and am quite comfy thank you very much.

The economy WOULD fix itself if the self proclaimed experts on the hill would just leave it alone. Since they can't seem to do that, it's not.

Correct! What the big government people don't understand is that the economy will recover after a correction if government would just stay out of the way.

Well simply getting Obama out isn't the answer. If we just elect another status quo Keynesian who won't fight for the fundamental transformation of our economy away from central planning back towards capitalism it won't really matter. Mitt Romney, Rick Perry, Herman Cain, Michele Bachmann, Rick Santorum, or Newt Gingrich won't change a darn thing. What we need is a return to sound money and free market capitalism, that's what made America great, that's the only thing that can get us out of this hole we're in currently.

You know real well that it's not politically feasible for any administation, republican or democrat to sit there and watch the whole thing without intervening.

Too many people are affected so they have to do something to get votes.

I like that conservatives get their economic advice from a man who bankrupts corporations for a living.

I like that liberals get their economic advice from folks who have never held down a private sector job in their lives. And then, they even vote for them for President so they can bankrupt countries for a living.

To put bankruptcy into a context you'll likely understand, think of it as a grant.
