[with that stated, I think the free market can handle this]
It already does in the case of cable, which isn't subject to FCC regulations. Some channels allow cussing and brief nudity after 11pm or so.
Either way our sexual puritanism compared to our tolerance of and propensity toward violence is one of the worst aspects of American society. To quote George Carlin I'd rather a child hear the word than the word kill.

Reason: language
The "F" being used in the media I don't care. But for a politician or any government official to use it is unacceptable. It's part of uncouth behavior. Now granted, I don't have a problem with people using the word. I use it when I am extremely frustrated or angry. But those who use it often as apart of their normal vocabulary are just showing uncivilized behavior imo.
At any rate, I noticed that several people voted that there should be continued penalization whenever the F-word is used but none have stated why they take this position.
I would be interested in hearing their point of view.
I, for one, don't see the point in banning any word. If we embrace freedom, we need to embrace that it will be used in ways that may not be comfortable to some. If certain stations decide to use the F-word in some of their shows, than that is entirely up to them and the audience they would like to attract. Why do we need government to tell us what is "decent" in a situation where it is our choice to be exposed or not. Don't like a station that uses the F-word, don't tune in.
Obviously, I can only shake my head that US audiences deem it acceptable if people are blown up or if there is extreme violence in many TV shows, but apparently barely escape a heart attack if there is the outline of a nipple to be seen. It's just nuts.
Each person has his own "comfort zone " regarding profanities...
Certainly, too much ( to my taste) use of the F-word is impolite...
Therefore, only the people, the viewers of a show can decide.
If a tv station or a website or a paper allows too much of profanities, they can drop it...
After all.a court decided that even if u threaten the Prez & the threat does not ...sound serious,
u don't violate the law ...
So,it seems that speech in America is...almost sacred.
If they legalize it, they also need to abolish the MPAA rating system as well as the Parental Advisory sticker on CDs. If material is deemed too explicit for somebody under 17 to purchase without a mature adult, then it should be on over-the-air radio or television. Cable is different. I know its not like it does any good period, because the rating system is pretty much worthless anyways and doesn't do what it was designed to do, but its just for consistency.
This word offends many just as badly as the "N" word offends many. Nope...our society has fallen far enough. No more....
