Is the United States sliding toward theocracy? That’s what Republican presidential candidates have told us for more than a year. Radical Islam, they’ve argued, is on the verge of taking over our country through Sharia law. But this weekend, at an Iowa forum sparsely covered by the press, the candidates made clear that they don’t mind theocracy—in fact, they’d like to impose it—as long as it’s Christian.

Christian theocracy: How Newt Gingrich and the GOP would abolish courts and legislate morality. - Slate Magazine

This is the video the Slate article references. Skip to the 36 minute mark for the good part/discussion start. It's a very long clip, but hey, sometimes you need more than a 2 minute clip to get the real story.

Interesting. And scary. Hit the 1 hour mark and turn it on....Bachmann is hilarious. Skip to 1:10 and watch Gingrich discuss OWS. "Go get a job, right after you take a bath."

Sounds like he understands the people. Hey, wait, didn't banks and Wall street and trading companies make the world economy collapse and that's why people can't find jobs? I think he should just say, "Let 'em eat cake."

We are nowhere near having religion become the law of the land.
Do you really believe what you posted ?

We are not the ME.

No doubt, but so-called "christian" conservatives do look to sharia law with a little more than a twinge of jealousy. Flat-headed knuckle draggers exist in every society. Ours happen to wear a giant lower-case t around their necks.

Having religion replace our Constitution as the law of the land is not even a blip on my radar screen.

We aren't run by military dictatorships quite yet so I wouldn't lose any sleep over it.

Rule of Lord; The Republican plan to nullify the courts and establish Christian theocracy.

Not even Rachel Maddow accuses the Republicans of something as loony as this.
