That's an issue for blacks and the Black Caucus to decide. It's not the business of anyone else.

Moreover, there are several racial and ethnic caucus type groups in Congress. Why question the black one?

Has The Congressional Black Caucus Outlived its Purpose?

Why was it ever allowed to exists in the first place? I bet a Congressional White Caucus would never be allowed. It would be "racists."

Funny how people like yourself never have an issue with anything except "Black"ness.

I don't think any of those are necessary. There really isn't any group of people, who you can label, that need anything special to protect them. If we applied human rights equally across the board and eliminated the roadblocks none of it would be necessary. We MAKE it necessary to keep ourselves relevant.

Because there is no Caucasian Congressional Caucus?

My, my someone is defensive. Are you a member of the Caucus that borders on Marxism? They seem more focused on this Marxist ideology of theirs than than representing race since they do everything they can to sideline Allen West.

It is the business of every American the antics and behaviors/ideologies of any representatives who casts votes that effect all of our lives. Or, do you think it is similarly none of your business how any other caucus may think, what it does?

Initially, my reaction was that I really could care less about the existence of the Congressional Black Caucus however, I do take issue with every single thing always being targeted is "Black". The title of the thread was not "Has the Hispanics Caucus or Asian-Pacific American Caucus or the Women's Issues Caucus Outlived its Purpose". No, the only Caucus that needs to be done away with is the "Black" Caucus.

So actually, considering that almost ALL of the threads here on C-D involving race are "anti-Black" and in general "Blackness" in America is the typical target of scorn, then yes maybe we DO still need the Congressional Black Caucus.

Tribalism of any type only serves to hurt anyone outside the tribe and ultimately holds back society as a whole. Does anyone think that a "Black caucus" really represent most Blacks. Nor would a "Women's Caucus" really represent all women. Of course not, that is silly.

Caucuses should be centered around ideas, not pigment or gender. All that is a socially acceptable form of chauvinism that should be resoundingly rejected by any modern and sophisticated society.

Alas, we are neither as modern, nor sophisticated as we like to think.

Uh...maybe you didn't know this, but i'm ineligible to be a member of the Black Caucus as i'm NOT a member of Congress. Did i come on here at some point and claim to be a Congressman? Or did you actually believe that thirty something million black folks belong to the caucus? LMAO...i wouldn't doubt it.....especially seeing as how we "all look alike."

Secondly, they mistreat Allen West because he's an Uncle Tom. I'd sideline him too. In fact, they're treating him far better than i would based on the things he said about Kieth Ellison.

Thirdly, my Congresswoman is Gabrielle Giffords. She's the only representative i follow. Her vote is the only vote that matters to me. What your representative does or votes for is a matter for you and members of your district.

In a perfect world......

However, i'd be willing to give up the Black Caucus as soon as everyone else gets rid of their advocacy groups first.
