Great post jeffla01,

However, it does not seem to speak to this thread. Perhaps it is worthy of its own thread? I think moderates periodically post similar things, and after the failure of the super committee, they seem extra relevant. I am utterly sick of all the ideology.

It seems that one of the elements of this thread is that it is good that people don't like us, because if they fear us that is good.

So, do folks feel like the best position for the USA is as a feared superpower? Or should we be seen as a benevolent force on the planet?

Is the Taliban loved? Is Ahmadinejad of Iran loved? Are warmongering, religious fundamentalist conservatives any different than the other two?

Just listen to any of the three groups and you understand why the world loathes extremists. They leave a trail of dead bodies behind them wherever they go.

It is somethng to quit making up in your own mind. And remember, our government exists for OUR benefit, not for the benefit of foreign parasite nations that just want foreign aid.

Really? Conservative capitalism wants parity (i.e. "equality") around the world except this is parity for the working class and not those in charge...this all equates nicely to conservative politics which is financed by corporations and those in charge of the corporations.

liberals.....bah!

give me some moderates that can actually think and make informed decisions....

give me some elected officials who do not sign "pledges" that hamstring their capability to act as rational thinking human beings....

Disgusting post, and I'll tell you why.

You may disagree with conservatives, they are still part of your country. Which I understand doesn't matter, since libs are pretty self-loathing.

The Taliban is an Islamist extremist group with a lot of power in the Middle East. I don't really recall any Conservative extremist groups over here with a lot of power. EDIT - Tea Party doesn't count since all liberals and a lot conservatives disagree with them, and they don't have much power right now, don't know about the future.

Absolutely horrible post.
