even won a single skirmish?

I am referring to the 99% v 1% divide or better yet the 0.01% divide.

how can the middle class (defined here as those above the poverty line and below the AGI of tax filers @ $250k....i use this because >97% of americans fall below this adjusted tax filing status so don't go nuts that it doesn't equal 99% )

Take Ronald Lauder for example....

he sells his stake in cable company (CME) in 2006 for $190 million. He avoids paying most of the taxes owed around the world how?

The company operates in central europe, its organized as a holidng company in the netherlands, its headquartered in Bermuda, and the sale proceeds are routed through two Cayman island holding companies...oh and then he off-sets the sale with a "charitable" purchase and donation of a $135 million dollar piece of art.

and we want our politicians to sign a 'no taxes' pledge by Norquist's group which even excludes closing loopholes?

Assinine to say the least!

Most politicians are for closing the loopholes... what they say and what they do are two different things... however as far as increasing tax rates, most politicians on both political spectrum are against that idea... there is no "us" or "them" its all "we", apparently the liberals have gotten the public to think there really is a "them" so that they would vote for liberals...

"us" v "them" can be taken in many contexts.

do you have the money to lobby the government to make and/or maintain tax law or regulations that benefit you?

prob'ly not

when taken in this context, there is a clear defining line between maintaining a system to your benefit vs benefiting everyone.

i asked once and will put it out there again....please tell me one federally elected official that does not fall into the category of the 1% or higher realm?
