The guy's actions (lack of) speak loud and clear to wise folks!

Take your middle eastern sky god to church with you, but leave him out of our politics. If you're that taken with theocracy, Iran and Saudi Arabia await you.

You guys do know if he was to thank God in his speech that we would be establishing ourselves as a Christian nation, when clearly we aren't?(a lot of you say we are majority Christian but actions prove otherwise)

why are we giving thanks to a holiday with a murderous backround? Do Native Americans celebrate it?

We are supposed to thank him everyday.
What usually happens anyway is that people get drunk and have all types of parties....

Obama didn't thank any other imaginary beings in his speech, either. America is a secular country, and a presidential speech is no place to recognize religion. Get over it.

I don't get it. No President should ever have to mention the word god in any speech at all. The whole concept that we have to give thanks to some sort of celestial dictator for enabling us to become fat gluttons on the last Thursday in November is pretty sad and pathetic.

Don't the people in North Korea pretty much do the same thing? Whenever they get morsels of rice to eat after their dictator has starved them to death, they look up at the picture of the "Dear Leader" and the "Great Leader" and give them praise and thanks for all that's been done for them. And they do that because they're scared of being cast into an internment camp - kind of like how the Christian god will banish you to hell if you don't worship him.

I find it ironic that the people on the right who scream "Socialism" when a member of the government finds a nickel on the ground always seem to be the ones most infatuated with this tyrannical, dictatorial, omnipotent security camera they call god.

Does the Christian deity really need the pathetic, whiny, groveling substance of thanks from we mere mortal humans? Does it have such a low sense of self-esteem and lack of confidence that it requires us to prostrate ourselves in a show of pathetic bewilderment so as to say "I couldn't stuff this last turkey leg down my gullet without your help, 'Oh Great One.'"

And now, amidst all that, we demand that the leader of our country has committed a grave fallacy for not falling victim to the illogical and ridiculous claims of a society obsessed with an infinite voyeur that doesn't exist? Well, I say it's high time someone stopped paying lip service to a bunch of superstitious vagabonds holding onto the myths of Bronze Age goatherds.

I think we have enough things to thank on Thanksgiving without having to massage the ego of an invisible being and I think President Obama did a fine job doing just that in his speech.

What does it ***** say since you're so wise and all.

By the way, where does it mention Thanksgiving in the bible? I've read the whole thing. I'll give you a hint, it doesn't.

Why should the government be mentioning Christian gods. That's not what the founding fathers wanted or did you forget about those guys?

Sounds like he should have been a pastor, instead of president, then.
