Kyl: GOP May Not Support Extension Of Payroll Tax Holiday | Fox News

The payroll tax holiday hasn't done anything to stimulate job growth, so Republicans may not support extending the tax cut favored by President Obama and Democrats -- at least in its current formula -- a key GOP senator said Sunday.

And the Bush tax cuts, and lowering taxes for hedge fund managers, and allowing corporate jet tax credits have created jobs?

Republicans, hypocrites, one and all.

Pizza is a vegetable.

I'm not fan of Democrats either, but if this doesn't boil the blood of middle class Republican voters, nothing will

I'm all for the payroll tax adjustment as long as they include employers contributions as well.

Also what ever the employees save should be cut out of the SS and Medicare budgets.

Save employees 10 billion, slash 10 billion out of SS and Medicare.

If the Democrats want to ***** about not paying for tax cuts here is one way to put up or shut up.

It's all part of the GOP's new "Tax the poor" platform. The Republicans are sick of the bums and lucky duckies who make less than $350,000 a year not paying the same tax rate that they pay on their income in the upper income brackets.

So what if Joe Millionare pays the same low tax rate on his income up to $80,000 that Mary Churchmouse pays on hers. Joe Millionare deserves an even bigger break, and the only way to get there, is to get Mary to cough up a higher percentage of her income to the government. So let's start pretending that someone's first $10,000 is exactly the same as someone's third million.

Only the Republicans could come up with this Scrooge platform and think it's a winner.

Why do Democrats support sending SS even further into the red? If we're going to do a middle class tax cut there are much better ways than cutting the social security tax. The Obama 'making work pay' cut or something along the lines of the EITC would be better.

If they were going to cut social security benefits along with cutting contributions (I think that's what bulldogdad suggests) that's one thing, but that is not the 'payroll tax holiday' was done.

Many erroneously feel that the bottom half of the USA pays no taxes. They see this as payback and justice.

Income tax only. Very few Americans pay no taxes, except for GE and Exxon.

But aren't all tax cuts good? Even those for corporate jet owners?

The GOP has a problem with this tax cut because it is supported by Democrats. That's it really. They also know that denying the extension of the tax cut will shave off .5% of DGP growth for 2012. Their opposition is a little suspect.
