The US is becoming more like a third world banana republic with each passing day. If anything, we need unions more than ever and we need membership in unions to go up.

There is a "wage gap" because there is an endless supply of drones that can lift things or turn a wrench. It does not take much "skill" when most of the work is being done by a robot.

There is no value to the employer for paying someone more for the same skillset that can be bought at an entry level wage.

That only works to a certain extent. At some point you have to start increasing wages.

And we tried lowering taxes for eight years during the two terms of GW Bush, remember? It didn't work.

We ended up with a severe recession and near economic meltdown in 2008.

Care to explain exactly how you think unions have destroyed the middle class? You keep stating that in these kinds of thread but never offer anything up to back up that claim.

and you keep posting garbage that is UNPROVEN

the middleclass was around during the revolution war...BEFORE unions

the middleclass was around in the way before greedy unions brought therir form of corpoatism to the fold

unions are corporations...they were a good thing that helped get LAW WRITEN...if the unions go doesnt mean the LAW will go

in every union shop I worked in

1. work didnt get done, that could be done by anyone, because we had to wait for the union guy (and his many breaks) to do the job

2. the work was done SHODDY, because," hey Im union, I get paid to work or not work, and if I have to come back to do the job a second or third time, will still get paid"

3. the unions guys get PENCILED on their 'credintials' and are LESS TRAINED than the other guy

4. unions had a much higher turn around, because.... " hey after 3 years get hurt and then take a 3/4 disability"

my last shop was a non-union shop...the 'members' wanted union...my boss said ok...so I LOWERED them down to union wages....and no more 4th of july butcher package...no more profit sharing...no more thanksgiving turkey...no more christmas ham...and no more overtime.......................wasnt long before the 'union' slugs were gone

I agree Nafta had negative effects for wages but the trade agreement was a fully bipartisan effort.

And Nafta is anything but liberal. I never heard any republicans in congress complaining about it.

Nor was Bill Clinton a liberal. He was as corporate as they come.
