Government does not solve problems; it subsidizes them.
-Ronald Reagan

Experience hath shewn, that even under the best forms of government those entrusted with power have, in time, and by slow operations, perverted it into tyranny.
-Thomas Jefferson

Government exists to protect us from each other. Where government has gone beyond its limits is in deciding to protect us from ourselves.

It's hard to find the welfare office if there are not enough branches.

Liberals have the misconception that if we only tax the rich more that there will be plenty to spread around to the masses and all will live in harmony. Instead of raising the bottom up, they would rather tear down the top. They are misguided in their beliefs.

Liberals fear the need for a sequel to American War of Independence.

Smaller the government, smaller the people (no, we liberals mean... people as in people).

The same question could impeccably be asked of Conservatives. *shrug* And the real answer would be the same for both sides - though many refuse to state it outright: Because I want the government to enforce my own personal ideals.

An equally good question is.... what do todays Republicans have against small limited government?

At this time, neither D or R is for this

Personally, I'd like the government to enforce the Constitution.

That is the ONLY authority that the government has after all.

Yes, because the Patriot Act and No Child Left Behind are great examples of "small government" LOL.

It is not liberals vs conservatives, we all want Government to have as little effects on our lives as possible.
It is the NeoCons and NeoLibs that want an intrusive and powerful centralized Government. They have dominated our politics for the last 20-30 years.
